Lonesome

All I want for you to do
Is pick up the phone and call through
I'm feeling lonely and I'm missing you
Just want to hear your voice, want to hear your voice in my ear
This winters got me feeling low
the wind cuts right down to the bone
it's dark outside and cold in my room
Just wanna see your face, wanna see your face, wanna see it soon
All that I long for is for you to show up at my door
to say goodnight, sweet dreams and sleep tight
But all I have of you here is a photo, memories and your songs in my ears
they keep you from disappearing
I know that you are on the road
you're traveling in between your shows
the windows down, the wind is in your hair
I know that it is warm, I know that it is warm, it's summer there
Soon enough I will see you
sit tight, grit my teeth and get through
these cold short days that feel oh so long
it's hard to see the light, hard to see the light, when you're lonesome
All that I long for is for you to show up at my door
to say goodnight, sweet dreams and sleep tight
But all I have of you here is a photo, memories and your songs in my ears
they keep you from disappearing

Sparrow

Once upon a not so long ago, lived a little restless sparrow
He flew over mountains and he flew over seas
trying to understand and trying to find peace
There's something about flying up hight
the perspective that you get when you are in the sky
but he longed to walk on land, he longed to understand
why he was born a sparrow and not born a man
He closes his eyes tightly and he hopes that the wind
will take him to a place where he has never been
But he don't know how lucky he is
what man would give up for a chance to have his wings
this little sparrow well he will find peace
for to live is to fly, for to live is to fly

Mittens

I gaze outside my window, look up at the sky
it's gloomy, clouds surrounding, rain, no sunshine in sight
all the trees have let go of their very own leaves
the relentless wind has blown and left no colour to be seen
and winter has now come to me
Fall was so beautiful for as long as it was here
one hundred shades of autumn dancing down from the tallest trees
the sun came out to say don't worry, I haven't gone away
I am still here I just come out every other day
And winter has now come to me
Now it's coats and tuques and scarfs and mittens for my little hands
all the things from keeping all my extremities freezing
umbrellas and raincoats and all I wish is I had a boat
to sail away out of here and wind up in Hawaii.
Due to lack of funds my dreams will slowly come undone
I will have to make the most of having wintery fun
like splashing in the puddles with my gumboots on
curling up in my warm bed when the long day is done
cos winter has now come to me
I will visit all my friends and drink a lot of tea
play boardgames by an open fire, make the most delicious dinner
let the snowflakes fall upon my cheeks as it gets much colder
and maybe even cuddle into a certain others shoulder
cos winter has now come to me
Now it's coats and tuques and scarfs and mittens for my little hands
all the things from keeping all my extremities freezing
umbrellas and raincoats and all I wish is I had a boat
to sail away out of here and wind up in Hawaii.
Please, won't you take me to Hawaii.

Winter Wind
03:50
|

Winter had truly come, as the clouds concealed the sun
the bitter cold cut through, that bitterness was truth
Of all the trees stripped bare, among them I stood there
layers torn away, but the winter wind that came that day
And I stood rooted to the ground, as a heavy fog came down
and lay weighted in my chest, and sunk the brutal truth that this season confessed.
For the winter wind blows across land and sea
leaving storms in its wake and shaking leaves from the trees
it hides behind the promise of the sun
to conceal the damage that its done
The frost it clung to me, and left me to choice but to see
that this season seeps in deep, and leaves scars that will always keep
but the renewal that Spring can bring, is the hope to which I cling
that this coldness fades away, and the winter wind will stay at bay
For the winter wind blows across land and sea
leaving stoms in its wake and shaking leaves from the trees
it hides behind the promise of the sun
to conceal the damage that its done
